More About The Heavy Duty Robusta Awning
In engineering, there is a saying – “Nothing is as strong as a triangle”. The pivoting arms of the Robusta Awning create varying triangular spaces between the fabric and everything it shelters. This naturally creates a space for the air to automatically recirculate; making the warmer air moe upwards, outwards and replaced by slightly cooler air below. This system creates the most efficient method of colling everything it shades. being triangular also makes for a very strong and taught awning that can be installed almost anywhere to provide the ultimate in shade and shelter.
Almost unchanged for the last 25 years, this incredibly robust awning become somewhat of a faultless legend within the industry. Stories of Robusta’s, accidentally being left and ravaged by savage storms by forgetful customers; without showing any signs of visible damage – where any other awning would have been ripped off a wall. This is not to say that you should ever leave any awning down and unattended but more of a testament to the strength of the Robusta and its manufacturing quality. Moreover, a wind sensor and motor should be provided (not act as a failsafe) to help safeguard such occurrences from causing damage. So when thinking of a low maintenance awning that will outlast its lighter duty counterparts, look no further than the Heavy Duty Robusta pivot arm awning.
You can stop it partway in its travel to create a ‘hood’, stop it halfway to provide both privacy and shelter down to maximise your privacy or to act as a divider on your alfresco area.
Add a Colorbond hood to keep your awning fabric cleaner and stronger for longer. Adding a hood will keep the atmospheric matter from building up on the top of the roller when retracted when not in use and will also keep the birds and insects away for longer. The extruded headbox also cuts down your cleaning and maintenance by more than half!
If you like the pivot arm awning but think it is a little ‘mechanical looking’, you are not alone because Dalekit can also supply (in place of a hood) add a fully extruded head box for a touch of class and a little less maintenance. Just a quick wipe over of the headbox every 6 months with clean a wet cloth and that’s enough to keep your awning looking as good as new. No blasting with pressure cleaners needed as this can flake off the powder coated surface or result in cutting the fabric/mesh/material or waterlogging your motor.
