WHY DOCRIL CONTINUES TO LEAD IN OUTDOOR PERFORMANCE FABRICS

When it comes to creating long-lasting outdoor spaces, our Docril range has been trusted across Australia for decades, and for good reason — it delivers a balance of durability, design and reliability that few fabrics can match.

Engineered for Australian Conditions

Docril is manufactured from 100% solution-dyed acrylic, which means the colour is locked deep into every fibre. This gives the fabric exceptional fade resistance, even under Australia’s harsh UV exposure. Backed by a 10-year warranty, it’s designed to remain vibrant and resilient for years.

A Range Built for Style and Versatility

With an extensive colour palette and a selection of stripes, textures and solids, the Docril range suits everything from classic home exteriors to modern outdoor designs. Whether you’re creating shade structures, awnings, outdoor blinds or furniture, there’s a colourway that blends seamlessly with both residential and commercial environments.

Reliable Performance, Day After Day

Docril fabrics are treated with Dupont™ Teflon®, enhancing their resistance to water, oils and everyday contaminants. The result is a fabric that stays cleaner for longer and is easy to maintain — ideal for busy outdoor areas or high-traffic commercial settings.

Designed for Multiple Applications

From awnings and canopies to umbrellas and outdoor seating, Docril performs consistently across a wide range of end uses. Its dimensional stability, durability and colour retention make it a dependable choice for fabricators and end-users alike…

Modern textiles are long-lasting, brilliant, easy to clean, durable, and flame-resistant. In addition, modern frame materials have excellent strength-to-weight ratios and are resistant to corrosion. Dalekit Director Joe Pajeska tells WFA the company’s commitment to quality has carried through to its offering hardware for folding arm awnings.

“Our business has provided quality welded skin for over 15 years, and it was with great pride we secured access to the German designed and engineered folding arm system Solidux.”

Looking ahead to summer, blockout fabrics continue to play a key role in the Australian window coverings landscape, with evolving texture, colour and functionality all critical. WFA reports.

Under Joseph Pajeska’s leadership, Dalekit has embarked on a new journey by expanding its focus to include internal blinds and blockout fabrics.

Pajeska tells WFA the strategic shift comes after over 25 years of unwavering dedication to the external market and has been prompted in part by rising costs and intensifying competition.

Despite the initial challenges, Dalekit’s foray into the internals segment underscores its commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its clientele and staying ahead of industry trends, he says…

CLIMATE FOR INNOVATION

Issue 86 September 2022. Window Furnishings Australia

As the warmer weather approaches, non-folding arm awning systems are back in the spotlight, meeting the ongoing need for sustainable but stylish temperature control and shading solutions. WFA Reports.

Joe Pajeska, Owner of Dalekit Awnings, tells WFA; “With the carbon neutral economy regularly in the headlines, and as global warming talk starts up again, there are increasingly products on the market that actively and passively cool the home, specifically for the welfare of the environment.”

For the last 25 years, Dalekit has been manufacturing a range of 20+ awning systems all of which are customisable. Key products in the range include traditional window awnings, automatic awnings, the pivot arm, the gearbox straight drop and most recently the Zipscreen system.

“Way back in 2002 when we were all eagerly awaiting the new movie release of ‘Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers’ to hit cinemas, we first started researching the cooling effects on the home,” Pajeska tells WFA. “A large amount of time and effort was dedicated to learning and researching the effects of the sun on an average window and the heat transfer that takes place.”

Further research was obtained from the CSIRO which backed his theory that the greatest amount of heat enters the home through the windows; an average square metre will allow up to 1000 watts of heat energy to enter a western facing window in summer.

“It is exciting to see all of this research is now being actively shared through the WincovER website via the BMAA and information being researched further by the industry. An average window of four square metres with up to three windows facing west would put the average resident with 12KW of heat entering a home on a hot day. This is a decent air conditioner’s limits.”…

“The Pergosystem range of roofs from Alpha comes with new designs and market leading wind load testing,” says Joe Pajeska, Owner of Dalekit Awnings……

New factory means new chapter for Dalekit Awnings

Sydney manufacturer Dalekit Awnings has purchased 7000 square metres of manufacturing space to support plans for the expansion and re-focus of its business.

AUSTRALIAN FIRST TECHNOLOGY OPENS NEW PATHWAY FOR DALEKIT

Dalekit is moving from its humble beginnings as a quality awning manufacturer on the outskirts of western Sydney, to a supplier of internal roller blinds and shutters, with a new division offering a cut length service. WFA Reports.

The impetus for the new direction came from a visit to R+T Stuttgart in 2018 when Dalekit director Joe Pajeska saw a poster at one of the stands outlining the vision for a new cutting machine.

“The cutting edge European manufacturer hadn’t even finished building the machine at the time of the show, but by September of that year they had the first prototype up and running and I took the opportunity to witness this remarkable machine firsthand.”

On a trip to Greece to negotiate the bringing out of the Pergosystem Retractable Roof Systems to Australia, Pajeska detoured through Switzerland to view the machine in operation. Following this, his dream was to bring the first cutting machine of its kind out of Europe to Australian shores began.

“Roy Scheider’s catch phrase in Jaws of ‘we’re gonna need a bigger boat’ became the saying at Dalekit once the dream of the machine became a reality,” Mr Pajeska said…

DALEKIT MARKS 25 YEARS

As NSW business Dalekit celebrates a quarter of a century, Managing Director Joe Pajeska shares his thoughts on the journey so far, and on how the company plans to celebrate. WFA Reports.

What does it mean? How did it begin? The beginning of a lifetime and the start of a dream?

Struggle and growth or the struggle to grow?

These are questions I’ve been asking as Dalekit reached the quarter century mark. The truth is, 25 years, probably means many different things: is it 25 years of learning, experience and growing skills, or 25 years stuck in a rut repeating the same year 25 times?  Or perhaps a bit of both?

What’s certain is that 25 years of Dalekit have sent me on a trip down memory lane; one that I’d like to share with readers.

Let’s start at the beginning and a frequently asked question: Where did the name come from? Quite simply, as a 19-year-old walking into the business registry office with my father, we purchased a shelf company and from a list of names, we chose Dalekit simply because it was the one name that formed a word.

So what does it encompass, the Dalekit name?

As Shakespeare wrote “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.”

My father once said, “It’s the name that we make it, the name is just a name. Dalekit means excellence, a name you can trust.” ..
